Dr. David Welmerink

Dr. Welmerink is a Board Certified Orthodontist. He graduated from the University of Michigan Dental School and practiced general dentistry for five years with the United States Public Health Service, Indian Health Division. He then returned to the University of Michigan to continue his education with specialty training in orthodontics. After completing his residency and obtaining his Master’s degree in Orthodontics he returned to the Public Health Service serving the seven Indian Health Clinics in the Arizona/Nevada area. Following completion of his Public Health Service, he opened his private practice in Sparks. In July of 2007 he opened a satellite office in Northwest Reno.

He has served as Secretary/Treasurer, Vice President and President of the Northern Nevada Dental Society and is a member in good standing of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists and the Nevada Society of Orthodontists.

The Welmerink family includes his wife of over 35 years, Cris, their four children and their spouses, and their 7 adorable grandchildren.

 
Dr. Adam Welmerink

Dr. Adam is also a Board Certified Orthodontist. He grew up in the Reno/Sparks area, graduating from Galena High School and the University of Nevada. He first joined Welmerink Orthodontics in 2004 as a lab and chairside assistant after graduating from the University of Nevada, Reno with a degree in Biology. Working alongside his father ignited a passion for orthodontics and solidified his decision to attend dental school at the University of Washington. He graduated with a Master's degree in Orthodontics from the University of Michigan in June 2012. He is very excited to be fulfilling his dream of practicing alongside his father at Welmerink Orthodontics.

Dr. Adam received several awards in dental school for academic achievement, including the award for most outstanding student in orthodontics. He has tutored pre-dental and pre-medical students, volunteered at events providing free dental care for children, and participated in academic research. He also chaired a national conference for all orthodontic residents in 2011. He participates as a member of the Craniofacial Clinic through the University of Nevada School of Medicine. He currently serves as Vice President for the Northern Nevada Dental Society, and as the Nevada state representative for the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists.  He is a member in good standing of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, the Northern Nevada Dental Society, and the American Dental Association.

When not practicing orthodontics, he enjoys a variety of activities, including basketball, hiking, water sports, and enjoying the sun at Lake Tahoe. He is married to his wife of 10 years, Diana, who is a college counselor at Bishop Manogue Catholic High School. They have two wonderful children, Claire and Isaac.
