Meet Our Team

Cheryl – Office Manager

I have worked for Welmerink Orthodontics for over twenty years, but in two shifts. I worked here from 1985-1995 then moved to Las Vegas. When I returned to Sparks in 2005 I happily accepted Dr. Welmerink’s offer to come back to the practice as an assistant. At the beginning of 2011 I took over as office manager. Working for Welmerink Orthodontics has always been so much fun and so fulfilling. One of the things I have always liked best about working here is getting to know the patients and their families and making their experience in our office a pleasant and happy one.

I have three children of my own. My son Brian is a civil engineer and lives in Southern California with his wife Erin. My oldest daughter, Nicole, and her husband LT Chase Strickland, are currently stationed in Lemoore, CA. Chase flies F-18’s for the United States Navy and Nicole is currently at home raising my two grandsons: Sawyer 4, and Shane 2. My youngest daughter, Megan, is studying veterinary medicine at the Royal Veterinary College in London.

I love spending my time off with my grandbabies and enjoy biking, golfing and skiing in the great outdoors with my husband, Vince.

Andrea – Treatment Coordinator

I joined the Welmerink Orthodontics team in December of 2011. I worked in the orthodontic field from 2000-2006, before I was a stay-at-home mom for 5 years. As Treatment Coordinator, I am responsible for making sure your initial visit is a positive and educational experience. I welcome questions about your treatment. I am responsible for taking the initial records and scheduling your treatment as indicated by our doctors. My goal is to make your entry into our practice smooth and comfortable.

Running, camping, skiing and spending time at the beach are some of my favorite hobbies. My husband, Ryan, and I have three beautiful boys. Blaine is 11 and in 6th grade. Logan is 10 and has started 4nd grade. Mitchell is 6 and is looking forward to starting 1st grade. They all play baseball and love to ski. We love watching them grow and discover new things.

Angie – Treatment Coordinator

I have worked in the orthodontic field for over 20 years.  I truly enjoy working for Welmerink Orthodontics where our patients experience a fun, caring and professional atmosphere while they are in orthodontic treatment.  I enjoy meeting our new patients during the initial exam process.  I explain the treatment plan that our doctors have designed for our patients, review payment options and schedule the starting appointment.  It is so fulfilling to see our patients achieve the perfect smile of their dreams!

My husband, Mark, and I enjoy spending time with our children and grandson, Judah, who is 18 months old. .  We feel lucky that our son and daughter-in-law live in Reno so we get to spend a lot of time spoiling Judah.    We also have a daughter and son-in-law who live in Reno and a daughter and her partner who live in Pahrump.

Chelsea – Scheduling Coordinator

I started working at Welmerink Orthodontics as a Scheduling Coordinator in January of 2017. Since the beginning, it has been a rewarding experience to work with an enthusiastic team that truly cares about the well-being of their patients. This is my first time working in an orthodontics office, and I am excited to be in a field that has a powerful and direct impact on a person's life. I look forward to getting to know our patients and watching them transform throughout treatment!

Prior to working with Welmerink Orthodontics, I grew up in the Bay Area and moved to Reno to attend the University of Nevada in 2011. During that time, I fell in love with the area and everything Reno has to offer. After graduating from college, starting work in a medical office, and taking some time to travel, I decided to move back to Reno. I have been enjoying the close proximity to Tahoe and taking every opportunity I can to hike, camp, and kayak around the lake.

Linda Jo – Orthodontic Clinical Assistant

I have worked in Pediatric and Orthodontic Dentistry for over 30 years. This year will mark my 20th year working for Welmerink Orthodontics. The best 20 years of my life! My family, outside of this office consists of my daughter Jessica and son Cody. Jessica is a pharmacist in town. I sure do miss my many trips to New York City while she was there for Pharmacy school. Cody will be graduating in May 2016 from UNR with a Civil Engineering Degree.

I am very health oriented in my personal life and try to bring that dedication to work. I love to share my stories of running 12 marathons and numerous ½ marathons. I even ran in the Boston Marathon twice. I am a Disney Freak and enjoy anything outdoors, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Rayna – Orthodontic Clinical Assistant

I have loved working in orthodontics for 16 years for many reasons, but the one that stands out to me the most is watching how improving a smile has such lasting effects on a person. I’ve enjoyed meeting and talking to people from all different walks of life and feeling like a part of their family while making them a part of ours. I love talking and hearing about food and learning about Reno life while talking about growing up in California. When I’m not at work, you can find me and my husband volunteering, eating, cooking or at the gym!

Jessica - Orthodontic Clinical Assistant

I am a recent graduate of the Milan Institute. Last summer I had my internship with the Welmerink family. After my internship was over, I was invited to join the team. I couldn’t be more thankful for these amazing doctors for believing in my abilities and watching me grow day by day. Although I am a bit young, I have always known the dental field was for me. After getting braces in high school, I knew I wanted to work with an orthodontist. I loved watching the process of my teeth coming together and aligning perfectly. Seeing patients first reactions when they get their braces off is priceless; it’s what I love working for.

I enjoy hiking, camping, and late-night walks. I also love playing softball and watching Netflix. I’m family oriented, having come from a family with 6 children. This year I will be welcoming my baby boy into this world. I can’t wait to meet each and every one of you!

Nicole - Orthodontic Clinical Assistant

I have worked in the orthodontic field for 11 years.  I graduated from the TMCC Dental Assisting Program in 2006.  My favorite thing about my job is bringing people happiness by transforming their smile.  Some of my favorite things to do are run, travel, walk my Goldendoodle, Rosie and spend time with my family and friends.  I have two children, a daughter Adalyn and a son Cooper. My husband Matt and I were born and raised in Sparks.  I am a previous patient of Dr. Welmerink’s, as I had braces completed when I was in 5th grade.  I am so happy to work for such amazing doctors.

Micaela - Orthodontic Clinical Assistant

I have seen this practice from both sides as a patient since 2014 and as a part of the Welmerink Orthodontics team as an assistant as of July 2015. This practice is absolutely amazing. I went to dental assisting school at TMCC, graduated and made the Dean’s List. I am CPR certified and am actively certified with the Dental Assisting National Board. This is a huge achievement for me. I get a thrill out of meeting all of our patients and being able to see their transformations.

My family is everything! I have a 7 year old, four legged son (dog) Duke. I enjoy camping, dirk track racing, work, and just being with my family. If I have already met you, see you soon, and if I haven’t, I can’t wait to!

Brittany - Orthodontic Clinical Assistant

I have worked in the dental field for 6 years. I attended ECPI Medical Career Institute in Virginia where I lived with my husband for 2 years while he was enlisted in the US Navy. Upon moving back to Reno, I worked in general dentistry until welcoming my daughter Brylee in April of 2016. After getting to spend 6 months at home with her, I was offered my dream job working at Welmerink Orthodontics. My favorite part of working in orthodontics is helping to create a confident smile.

My husband Nathan and I were both born and raised in the Reno/Sparks area. Outside of the office you can find me spending time with my family and friends, camping, spending time in the water, supporting my husband in his dirt bike racing. However, my all-time favorite hobby is being a mom.

Ashley - Orthodontic Clinical Assistant

As a former patient of Dr. Welmerink’s, I know firsthand the confidence a new smile brings. I really enjoy meeting new patients and getting to chare in their excitement throughout their treatment.

I am a Sparks native and truly love this town. With all the activities it has to offer, there is always something to do. When I’m not at work, my husband Shane and I have our hands full with two little ones; Tessa who is 3 ½, and Graham who is 11 months. We’re so excited to welcome our third, due in December!
